Cape Town International Airport is located on the N2 highway, about 22km (15 miles) east of Cape Town's city centre. All the major airlines and low-cost airlines servicing Cape Town land at Cape Town International Airport.

Arrive early for your flights. It may take time to find parking and there may be queues.
The upgrade will include a new domestic wing, an upper level served by an elevated road (similar to Johannesburg airport), a second multi-storey car park and improved approach roads. Construction began in August 2006 on a new central terminal building to be called New Terminal 2010. New Terminal 2010 will provide a central passenger-processing unit for both domestic and international passengers.
According to the Airports Company of South Africa (Acsa),passengers could be inconvenienced during construction (but flights were unlikely to be affected); "The major impact will be on airport users having to detour from their normal routes outside the terminal, or having to walk further to get from the drop-off area to the terminal buildings."
The first step is to construct a bypass road to divert traffic from the terminal buildings, where large construction works are to start soon.
The upgrade is expected to be completed by the end of 2009.
With Cape Town's notoriously strong south-easter, crab-landing is common at Cape Town International Airport.
In apartheid South Africa, Cape Town International Airport was known as DF Malan Airport.
