Noordhoek beach, Cape Town
Noordhoek beach is situated just north of Kommetjie. It consists of six kilometres of fine, snow-white sand.

The Hoek at Noordhoek beach is one of the best right breaks in the country, and the Dunes is about in the middle of the beach.

12th September 2003 : Bodyboarder Dave Bornman (19) of Newlands was killed by a shark at the Dunes. He was only 30m from the shore when attacked. The shark inflicted asingle bite on Dave's left thigh, buttocks, the back of his spine and chest, and he bled to death within minutes of the attack.

28th March 2005 : British tourist Chris Sullivan (32) was mauled by a 4 metre long Great White shark, while at surfing at the Dunes. He needed 200 stitches as a result of deep multiple bite wounds to his lower right leg and foot.
