This is not a big five park. The large animals which there
are, are confined to the Cape of Good Hope section (so you don't have
to concern yourself about them wondering into the city centre!).
Smaller animals can be found throughout the park.

The common birds (there are many vagrants) are:
In fynbos regions:
Cape Sugarbird
Grey-backed Cisticola
Karoo Prinia
Southern (Lesser) Double Collared Sunbird
Amongst forest patches:
African Goshawk
African Olive-Pigeon (Rameron Pigeon)
African Wood-Owl (present but elusive)
Black Saw-wing
Cape Batis
Lemon (Cinnamon) Dove
Olive Thrush
Paradise Flycatcher
Rufous-chested (Red-breasted) Sparrowhawk
Sombre Greenbul (Bulbul)
Amongst dense thickets on forest fringes:
Knysna Warbler (more likely to be heard than seen)
Honey Buzzard (from Newlands to Tokai, Constantia & Hout Bay)
Amongst exotic pines & oaks:
Chaffinch
In rocky areas at higher elevation:
Cape Siskin
Cape Rock-thrush
Ground Woodpecker
In damp areas at high elevation:
Striped Flufftail (more likely to be heard than seen)
Birds of prey at higher altitude areas:
Jackal
Peregrine Falcon
Rock Kestrel
Steppe (summer) Buzzard
Verreaux's (Black) Eagle
White-necked Raven (common)
There are also a number of reptiles and invertebrates.
