Helderberg Village Golf Course

Helderberg Village Golf Course is a 9-hole course in the stunning setting of the Helderberg area of Cape Town, South Africa. The course is set within the Helderberg Village retirement resort (was mainly created for the use of residents), and there are often friendly retirees strolling around the course as you play. The course was not in great shape when we played there in April 2006. The greens are bumpy, with pitch marks onto them not having been properly repaired. On the fairways one needs to make use of the placement rule to ensure that one is sitting on grass. It is also one of those courses where it is not always obvious where the fairway ends and the rough begins. The showering facilities were adequate, although it was a bit odd to have to walk through the dining room to get to the showers. Food at the half-way house was adequate. The course is a short one, but there are plenty of out-of-bounds to scare one from using the long clubs. At the price of R200, this course is well worth playing for the stunning scenery.
